Superposer

Playing games

The menu bar extra

Turn it on in Settings › Appearance › Menu bar (it's off until you do). The Superposer mark appears in the menu bar, with a dot in your accent colour while a game is running. Click it for a panel with:

  • The game you're playing: its art, how long you've played this session and, while the game records its frame rate (Measure frame rate in its Performance settings), the frames per second.
  • Quick controls for that game, which reach it at once:
    • HUD: the Performance HUD Off or level 1 to 5 for this session, like ⇧F12 in the game. Settings › Performance HUD keeps the level for every game.
    • Preset: the game's performance preset, saved for the game. The frame cap changes now; resolution at the next launch.
    • Frame cap: for this session; the game's settings keep theirs for the next launch.
    • Screenshot, Overlay (opens the in-game overlay over the game) and Stop…, which asks first, like everywhere else.
    • HUD, preset, frame cap and Overlay need Superposer's in-game tools in that game (In-game tools in its settings); the panel says when they aren't loaded.
  • Steam integration: whether it's on. When something needs attention (games without a Steam setting, a setup that's only partly on, a Steam update that needs fixing), Fix… opens Steam Integration and shows what it changes before anything happens.
  • Recent: the games you played last, each with Play.
  • Open Superposer (⌘O) and Quit (⌘Q).

Everything in the panel works with Tab and Space and with VoiceOver, and it follows your accent colour and light or dark appearance.

While the menu bar extra is on, closing Superposer's window keeps Superposer running in the menu bar; Open Superposer brings the window back. With it off, closing the window quits Superposer, as before. To remove the icon, turn the setting off (or hold ⌘ and drag the icon out of the menu bar).
